Passacaglia, literally meaning “a slow walk,” is a music style originated in seventeenth-century Spain. Its baseline and melody chase each other in cyclical progressions and repeat with consistent variation throughout the duration of the piece. In visualizing its music form, I constructed this piece of sculpture by bending and laminating pieces of luan wood each of equal length, with an even shift in position between 4 layers.

Bended luan, laminated. Dowels. Approx. 5ft x 5ft x 1.5ft. 2008
